 nge\, fostering self-motivation is a critical issue.  In this talk Dr. Rya
 n will present research based in self-determination theory (SDT) concernin
 g how teachers\, therapists and other motivators facilitate or undermine a
 utonomous motivation and its positive consequences for learning and wellne
 ss. He will also discuss such varied issues as: why video game based learn
 ing is  (sometimes) engaging\; how evaluations and incentives impact teach
 ing and clinical practice\; and what is culturally universal about motivat
 ion. Finally\, he will discuss practical elements in motivating oneself an
