She also founded and direc ts the Modern Diet and Physiology Research Center. A psychologist and neur oscientist with graduate degrees from 9I制作厂免费\, her research foc uses on chemosensation and ingestive behavior in humans using neuroimaging combined with metabolic\, psychophysical and neuropsychological methods. A major focus of current work is understanding the impact of diet on gut-b rain signaling\, perception and cognition. She has also established a tran slational - reverse translational program of research through collaboratio ns with colleagues working in mouse models. Dana is Past Program Chair of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior and Association of Chemore ception Sciences\, Executive Editor of the jour-nals Appetite\, Molecular Metabolism and Biological Psychiatry and a member of the National Academy of Sciences Board on Behavior\, Cognitive and Sensory Sciences.\n\nAbout t he presentation\n\nCurrent and traditional models of ingestive behavior im plicate the consciously perceived hedonic qualities of food as driving ove reating\, whereas subliminal signals arising from the gut serve to curb ou r uncontrolled desire for calories. However\, recent evidence suggests tha t the inverse is true. Evidence from human and animal models will be prese nted demonstrating that it is the subliminal metabolic signals that ascend to the brain to regulate not only food reinforcement\, but also emotional regulation\, perception and higher order cognitive functions. The implica tion is that the gut-brain axis is a promising target for behavioral and n eurological interventions.\n\nPanel Discussion: A multi-disciplinary panel will follow the presentation to advance convergence science on the multis cale body\, brain and society mechanisms and individual differences underl ying eating behavior as well as response to digital and/or physical behavi oral\, neurological\, nutritional\, and medical interventions over the lif ecourse. Insights for behavioral change and ecosystem transformation at sc ale for lifelong wellness and resilience will be discussed. The moderator is Prof. Laurette Dub茅\, Chair and Scientific Director\, 9I制作厂免费 Centre for the Convergence of Health and Economics (MCCHE).\n DTSTART:20201028T150000Z DTEND:20201028T170000Z SUMMARY:Brain to Society: Decision and Behavior Seminar Series with Dr. Dan a Small URL:/desautels/channels/event/brain-society-decision-a nd-behavior-seminar-series-dr-dana-small-325322 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
