 Service Sectors\n\nProf. Gianvito Lanzolla\n\nGianvito Lanzolla is a Profe
 ssor of Strategy at Cass Business School\, City\, University of London\, w
 hich he joined in April 2006. Gianvito is the Founding Director of the Cas
 s’s Digital Leadership Research Centre (DLRC) and in 2013 he launched the 
 Digital Innovation in Action MBA program\, the most successful MBA electiv
 e in the School. Gianvito holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Dean’s l
 ist) and a PhD in Strategic Management. Before joining academia\, he was t
 he founder and managing director of “e-change Srl”\, an e-business transfo
 rmation provider which in 2002 he sold to a leading software company.\n\nA
 bstract\n\nIn this webinar Professor Lanzolla will be presenting the resul
 ts of a systemic analysis (joint work with Fang Lei and Andreas Tsanakas) 
 on 500 US banks and insurance companies over the period 2006 to 2018 on th
 e relationship between digitisation and patterns of divergence/convergence
  in business models and perception of external risks. Overall\, findings s
 how that digitisation drives convergence in business models among banks an
 d insurances. However\, this effect is stronger for generalist banks and i
 nsurance companies than for specialist ones - e.g.\, investment banks and 
 life insurance companies. Findings also show that perceived external risks
  are converging among banks and insurances\, thus suggesting the emergence
  of broader systemic risks. Implications of these findings for management 
 and policy are finally discussed.\n\n\nAbout the series\n\nThe Convergent 
 Innovation Webinar Series will feature cutting edge science\, technology a
