This has had a wide range of negative environmental and social impacts. However\, transport systems which focus on public transit and “active” transportation (walking and cyc ling) are uniquely situated to address a wide range of societal goals incl uding reducing GHG and other pollutants at the same time improving populat ion health and safety. While cities have begun to embrace a move towards a new mobility paradigm\, the path towards sustainable and inclusive transp ort systems has a number of technical\, political\, economic\, and societa l barriers.\n\nThe Montreal region is currently embarking on multiple larg e-scale projects including the REM\, metro expansion\, increasing cycling infrastructure\, while focusing on pedestrian comfort and safety making th is a perfect place and time to discuss the future of urban mobility. This all-day event will bring in international and local experts to share ideas \, research\, and visions for the future featuring keynote talks and panel sessions with key representatives from academia\, industry\, and governme nt.\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n \n Agenda:\n\n \n \n 10:15 – 10:30: Opening Remarks by\n\n \n \n Zahoor Chughtai\, Associate Director of 9I’s Sustainable Gro wth Initiative (SGI)\n \n \n Kevin Manaugh\, Associate Professor jointly appo inted to the Department of Geography and the Bieler School of Environment \n \n \n Representative from Alstom\n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 10:30 - 11:25: Keynot e Speech by Peter Norton\, Associate Professor at the University of Virgin ia: The Marginalization of Walking: The Loss and Recovery of Sustainable U rban Mobility (Presentation in English)\n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 11:25 - 12:00: Gra duate Student ‘Lightning talks’ (3-5 minutes each)\n\n \n \n Daniel Romm: “Th e Cars are Going to be Alright: Examining Micromobility Infrastructure All ocation and Potential Improvements in Montréal\n \n \n Jerome Laviolette: Pro jet ACCEPTER le vélo: Support behaviour change towards cycling\n \n \n Lexi K inman: Bikelash in Montréal: The Influence of Moral Foundations on Public Perceptions of Cycling Infrastructure\n \n \n Dan Qiang: 'Longitudinal Analys is of COVID-19 Impacts on Urban Transit: A Comparative Study of Subway and Taxi Ridership in New York City\n \n \n Maxime Belanger De Blois: Visualizin g Accessibility\n \n \n Pegah Salsabilian: Neighborhood Nudges: Optimizing Ac cessibility for Healthy behaviors.\n \n \n Noah Kelly: Transit and people exp eriencing homelessness\n \n \n Paul Redelmeier: Identifying transit corridors for transit priority interventions\n \n \n Dominique Boulet: The development of interactive walking tours in Montreal using the Curbcut platform\n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 12:00 – 13:00: Lunch\n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 13:00 – 14:00: How to incorporate sustainable transport principles in Transportation Education ( Presentation in English - followed by roundtable discussion)\n\n \n \n Owen W aygood\, Professor of Transport at Polytechnique Montréal\n \n \n Kevin Manau gh\, Associate Professor jointly appointed to the Department of Geography and the Bieler School of Environment\n \n \n Peter Norton\, Associate Profess or at the University of Virginia\n \n \n Madhav Badami\, Associate Professor jointly appointed to the School of Urban Planning and the Bieler School of Environment\n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 14:00 – 15:00: Active mobility and the ch anging design of Montreal’s streets\n\n \n \n Panelists:\n\n \n \n Bartek Komoro wski\, Chef d'équipe - Pratiques d'aménagement des rues Ville de Montreal \n \n \n Magali Bebronne\, Programme Director at Vélo Québec\n \n \n \n \n Moderat or: Jerome Laviolette\, PhD\n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 15:00 – 15:15: Coffee\n \n \n\n  \n\n \n \n 15:15 - 16:15: Regional Rail Roundtable\n\n \n \n Rodrigo Victor iano (PhD Student - School of Urban Planning)\n \n \n Jean-Franciois Cantin ( ARTM)\n \n \n Ian Hodkinson\, Head of Technical Solutions (Alstom)\n \n \n \n \n \n  \n\n \n \n 16:15– 17:00: Closing Remarks & Networking session.\n \n \n\n DTSTART:20240405T140000Z DTEND:20240405T210000Z LOCATION:365/370\, Donald E.
