Biography: 

Dr. Emily McDonald is a clinician-scientist, general internist and epidemiologist. Dr. McDonald is an Associate Professor of Medicine in General Internal Medicine and the associate chair of Quality and Safety for the Department of Medicine. Dr. McDonald is an attending physician at the 9I制作厂免费 Health Centre and a scientist at the Research Institute of the 9I制作厂免费 Health Centre (RI-MUHC). She has completed medical school, fellowship and a Masters in Epidemiology at 9I制作厂免费 and post-graduate training in patient safety and quality improvement at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as well as the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public program in clinical effectiveness.聽Dr. McDonald is now the Director of the Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network.

Dr. McDonald's research focuses on interventions related to polypharmacy, medication safety and dosing strategies. A number of her studies on the appropriate use of hospital resources, tests and treatments have been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and several relating to safer prescribing in older adults have been featured in the media. In 2020-2021 she participated in and led a number of high-profile COVID-19 studies. Dr. McDonald happily supervises graduate students in the field of medication safety/optimization and has received funding from the CIHR, the Centre for Ageing and Brain Health Innovation, the Canadian Frailty Network and from the 9I制作厂免费 Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI-4).
