 scholar Professor David Ward of\nDe Montfort University\, Leicester\, Engl
 and.\nWho should attend? Social Work graduate\nstudents and faculty intere
 sted in exploring topics related to\nself-directed groupwork from both a r
 esearch and practice\nperspective.\nProgramme: The seminar will explore\nS
 elf-Directed Group Work for social action based on the values and\nprincip
 les advanced in Prof. Ward’s widely acclaimed\ntext Self-directed Groupwor
 k: Users Take Action for\nEmpowerment. Particular emphasis is given to exc
 hange with\nstudents who are encouraged to come prepared for a critical\nd
 ialogue.  A light supper will be served.\n\nSession 1: Values and Principl

 H3T 1N8.\nWhat is expected of participants?\n\nShort preparatory readings 
 will be distributed to registered\nparticipants before each seminar.  Come
  prepared with\nquestions and critique of these readings.\n\n\nParticipant
 s are encouraged to visit the website of the Centre\nfor Social Action (ww
 w.dmu.ac.uk/csa) to be appraised\nof the types of work conducted by Prof W
 ard and peers.\nProfessor Ward will discuss key points in readings and wil
 l\nfacilitate group discussion using his own practice examples as well\nas
  examples from participants.\n\n\nGiven the interactive format of the semi
 nar\, spaces are limited\n(maximum 35 participants per session).\n\nHow do
