  familiar with the visual dimension of Virtual\nReality (VR) but are unawa
 re of how the other senses are essential\nto creating the VR illusion of a
 nother world\, another dimension.\nFor instance\, there are significant ad
 vances in auditory and\ntactile/haptic VR. In this talk\, Dr. Frissen will
  highlight some of\nthe VR technologies he has used to study how the brain
  integrates\ninformation coming through the different senses\, or multisen
 sory\nperception\, taking us from large scale omnidirectional treadmills\n
 to small scale tactile devices and a wonderful array of techniques\nin bet
 ween.\n--\nThe purpose of the SIS' Speaker Series is to give Ph.D. and mas
 ters\nstudents in the School of Information Studies a behind-the-scenes\ng
 limpse at research and the research process. Students and faculty\nfrom th
