 \, to explain the\ngeneral scientific attitude towards the UFO evidence\, 
 Donderi\ndescribes the contribution of Leon Festinger’s cognitive dissonan
 ce\ntheory to understanding the scientific reaction to the UFO\nphenomenon
  in general.\nFollowed by the film Contact based on the Carl Sagan novel\n
 of the same name\, which explores a few questions relating to\nextra-terre
 strial intelligence\, including whether or not we are\nprepared to deciphe
 r messages from another world -- and whether in\nthe case of the main char
 acter\, played by Jodie Foster\, the\n'experience' of meeting extra-terres
 trials is real or not.\n
