In this s ession\, Dr. Clare McFarlane\nwill discuss some of the scientific research that supports\nstrategies to help slow memory loss\, such as:\n\n- Playin g games that encourage strategy and problem solving\, like\nbridge\, cross word puzzles or Sudoku.\n\n- Joining educational programs for older adults as a means to\ncontinue engaging in social\, physical and intellectual ac tivities\nafter retirement.\n\nClare McFarlane\, born and educated in the UK\, came to Canada 50\nyears ago for a one-year research fellowship at Mc Gill’s Institute\nof Parasitology. After meeting and marrying an entomolog ist from\nSaskatchewan\, she remained in Canada\, becoming a biology teach er in\nthe CEGEP system and later a lecturer on genetic engineering in\nMc Gill’s Department of Animal Science.
