 ques of the happy\nhousewife\, the paper suggests we can revitalize femini
 st languages\nof raising consciousness and false consciousness\, thinking 
 of\nfeminist consciousness as a reorientation to the causes of\nunhappines
 s. Consciousness of unhappiness is not necessarily a form\nof self-conscio
 usness but a world consciousness in which\nunhappiness can disturb the hap
 piness of the familiar. The paper\nreflects specifically on Black feminist
  consciousness as a\nconsciousness of what does not get noticed when happi
 ness provides\na horizon of experience. It calls for a feminist ethics and
