  the Centre\nThe Belgrade Centre for Human Rights is a non-partisan\,\nnon
 -political and non-profit association of citizens concerned with\nthe adva
 ncement of theory and practice of human rights. The\nprincipal goals of th
 e Centre are advancement of knowledge in the\nfield of human rights and hu
 manitarian law\, development of\ndemocracy\, strengthening of the rule of 
 law and the civil society\nin Serbia and Montenegro and other countries in
  transition from\nauthoritarianism to democracy. In the ten years of its e
 xistence\nthe Centre has endeavoured to raise the consciousness of the\nci
 tizens on the importance and dimensions of the idea of human\nrights and i
 ndividual freedoms and to establish a favourable\nclimate for their full r
 espect and enjoyment.\n\nSponsored by the Centre for Human Rights and Lega
