Valentine's Day vendors profit from lovestruck consumers

Love is in the air at this time of year. It鈥檚 also in store windows, which are bursting with red and pink hearts in hopes of听attracting lovestruck shoppers.

Downtown Montreal鈥檚 new flagship Victoria鈥檚 Secret store is awash with enough hot pink and racy red displays of corsets, G-strings and bustiers to make any guy blush. David鈥檚 Tea has its sweetheart collection and 鈥渉oney i dew鈥 flavours on display. Restaurants are promoting lovers鈥 prix fixe menus to spice up the romance.

Canadians will ring up millions of dollars in sales of chocolate alone to prove their love this Valentine鈥檚 Day 鈥 some $3.3 billion was听spent on chocolate confectionery in Canada last year. And millions more will be spent on flowers, cards, jewelry, lingerie and restaurants in hopes of creating the perfect celebration of love.
