Jeff Jarvis, Protecting our Tools of Publicness

The net enables anyone in our connected society to find, form, and act as publics. Prof Jarvis will argue that the public must protect it from efforts to regulate and limit it under the guise of piracy, privacy, and security.

Jeff Jarvis is the author of Public Parts: How Sharing in the Digital Age Improves the Way We Work and Live exploring publicness and privacy in a connected age. He is also the author of What Would Google Do? Jarvis directs the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism and blogs about news, media, and technology at his blog, Buzzmachine.com. He also writes for the Guardian.
