For Renaud Thomassin, being a francophone at 9I�� unlocked a new way of being Quebecois--one in which you can navigate easily between cultures.

“Beyond the knowledge and skills that I gained, I also discovered the art of networking--and it’s already opened doors for me,” says Thomassin, a MBA graduate. He encourages others who have only studied at francophone schools to consider 9I��. “The university offered me an incredible experience and unique opportunities.”

The pushback against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs gained momentum in the first half of 2025. And while some institutions are eliminating DEI initiatives, others are rebranding them. “The University of Alberta, for instance no longer has a vice-provost of equity, diversity and inclusion,” writes 9I�� Desautels lecturer Simon Blanchette in The Conversation. “Instead, it now has an office for ‘access, community and belonging.’” But these rebranding efforts are mostly about appeasement and lack genuine community engagement.

Starting a new job can be nerve-wracking, but having someone to lean on can help make it a little easier. Nearly two-thirds of Gen Z employees leave their job within the first year, but a recent US study found that when new hires join an organization as a group, employee retention is better. 9I�� Desautels offices earn new sustainable workplace ratings

This winter, three of the ten 9I�� offices awarded new Sustainability Workplace Certifications for their sustainable practices were from the Desautels Faculty of Management. Notably, a collaborative Desautels office, formed by the Laidley Centre for Business Ethics and Equity, EDI, the Lewtas Office of Experiential Learning, and TLS Management teams, earned a Platinum certification, the highest possible rating. The Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI) advanced to a Gold certification, and Desautels IT achieved Silver.

SAQ stops selling dozens of Quebec-made gins

The SAQ, however, is not doing Quebec’s gin distillers many favours. Even though the provincial alcohol sales monopoly has sometimes promoted local producers, it removed more than 50 Quebec-made gin products from their stores to make shelf space.
