The widening of geog raphic wealth disparities in the United States has fueled inequalities in access to public goods and amenities\, positioning aggregate community wea lth as a critical determinant of cognitive health. Adjusting for confounde rs\, including household wealth and education\, each standard deviation in crease in community wealth is associated with a 6.7% relative risk reducti on of cognitive impairment after age 50. Critically\, the protective effec ts accompanying community wealth matter most for non-white\, non-college e ducated\, and low net worth householders\, plausibly because these individ uals rely more on the conditions underwritten by local affluence. While de mentia-related cognitive decline currently affects one third of older adul ts\, the economic fragmentation of American communities thus poses a growi ng threat to the cognitive health of Americans\, particularly those from s ocially vulnerable and marginalized background.\n\n \n\n \n DTSTART:20251027T140000Z DTEND:20251027T150000Z LOCATION:Room 426\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:The Price of Place: Community Wealth and Cognitive Decline among Ol der Adults (Tom Kemeny\, University of Toronto) URL:/arts/channels/event/price-place-community-wealth- and-cognitive-decline-among-older-adults-tom-kemeny-university-toronto-366 879 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
