Natalie Nudell will discuss her research on the history of the 20th century American fashion and creative industries and her recent monograph聽In American Fashion, Ruth Finley's Fashion Calendar聽(Bloomsbury, 2024). The talk will also present the grant-funded and open-source Fashion Calendar Research Database, a digitization and digital humanities project that was launched by The Fashion Institute of Technology in 2023.

Natalie Nudell is a fashion and textile historian with a research focus on the 20th century American fashion industry centered on聽Fashion Calendar, labor, and digital humanities. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the History of Art Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York, where she is also the Director of the Fashion Calendar Research Database. Nudell wrote and produced the documentary "Calendar Girl," (2020) now available on iTunes, Amazon and Tubi. Her book,聽In American Fashion: Ruth Finley鈥檚 Fashion Calendar, was published by Bloomsbury Press in September, 2024. She is an associate editor of the聽Fashion Studies Journal聽and a founding member of the Fashion Studies Alliance. Nudell holds an MA in Visual Culture and Costume Studies from NYU and a BA in History from Concordia University.
