Faculty /anatomy/taxonomy/term/28/all en New publication from the Bui Lab in Current Biology on cilia tip structure /anatomy/channels/news/new-publication-bui-lab-current-biology-cilia-tip-structure-366023 <p>Motile cilia are specialized organelles essential for cell movement and fluid flow, driven by the beating of their internal cytoskeleton called the axoneme. At the core of the axoneme lies the central pair (CP) of microtubules, which features a distinct distal tip structure critical for motility. However, the proteins stabilizing this region have remained largely unknown.</p> Mon, 14 Jul 2025 16:16:09 +0000 elwood.lyken@mcgill.ca 1916 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Natasha Chang Ph.D. (Molecular mechanisms of muscle stem cell function and dysfunction) /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-natasha-chang-phd-molecular-mechanisms-muscle-stem-cell-function-and-dysfunction-365417 Fri, 16 May 2025 18:02:49 +0000 elwood.lyken@mcgill.ca 1914 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Maureen McKeague Ph.D. (Programmable RNA Tools to Probe and Modulate Cell State in Live Systems) /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-maureen-mckeague-phd-programmable-rna-tools-probe-and-modulate-cell-state-live-365349 Fri, 09 May 2025 15:22:12 +0000 elwood.lyken@mcgill.ca 1913 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Prasanna Satpute-Krishnan, PhD. In this work, they report a functional role for myostatin as an endocrine hormone that directly promotes pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) synthesis and thereby ovarian function in mice. Previously, this FSH-stimulating role was attributed to other members of the transforming growth factor-β family, the activins. Their results both challenge activin's eponymous role in FSH synthesis and establish an unexpected endocrine axis between skeletal muscle and the pituitary gland.</p> Thu, 20 Mar 2025 17:56:32 +0000 md.s.chowdhury@mcgill.ca 1898 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series 2024-2025 - Bastien Castagner /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-2024-2025-bastien-castagner-364307 Tue, 18 Mar 2025 17:40:09 +0000 md.s.chowdhury@mcgill.ca 1893 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Thomas Kitzler, Phd "Exploring novel genotype-phenotyperelationships to uncover the hiddenheritability in chronic kidney disease." /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-thomas-kitzler-phd-exploring-novel-genotype-phenotyperelationships-uncover-364020 Wed, 05 Mar 2025 16:22:40 +0000 md.s.chowdhury@mcgill.ca 1890 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Kalle Gehring, PhD /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-kalle-gehring-phd-362526 Mon, 13 Jan 2025 19:41:18 +0000 zoe.paul@mcgill.ca 1878 at /anatomy ACB Seminar Series: Stephanie Weber, PhD /anatomy/channels/event/acb-seminar-series-stephanie-weber-phd-362154 Tue, 17 Dec 2024 16:12:12 +0000 zoe.paul@mcgill.ca 1872 at /anatomy Prof. Venne awarded the 2024 President's Prize for Excellence in Teaching /anatomy/channels/news/prof-venne-awarded-2024-presidents-prize-excellence-teaching-362239 <p>Prof. Gabriel Venne, Director of the Division of Anatomical Sciences, has been awarded the 2024 President's Prize for Excellence in Teaching.
