 physical properties of their extracellular matrix environment through inte
 grin-mediated adhesions. The resultant signals play major roles in guiding
  development\, physiology\, and normal tissue remodeling required for home
 ostasis.  Conversely\, altered integrin-dependent signals contribute to pa
 thological tissue remodeling in cancer\, fibrosis\, atherosclerosis\, and 
 aneurysms.  I will present our recent work toward understanding fundamenta
 l\, biophysical mechanisms of force transmission and mechanotransduction t
 hrough integrins\, and the roles of matrix remodeling and integrin signali
 ng in vascular disease.\n\n \n\n \n
